This week, we’re diving into Gratitude.

🔥Quote of the Week:

"Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more you will have to express gratitude for."
- Zig Ziglar

🤔Reflection:

Think about the small, everyday wins that often go unnoticed: a warm cup of coffee in the morning, a kind word from a friend, or simply waking up with energy and purpose.

When we pause to acknowledge these moments, something shifts in us. We begin to notice more of them. 🔥Gratitude rewires our focus from scarcity to abundance, turning ordinary days into sources of quiet strength and forward momentum. What small thing are you grateful for right now? Let that spark carry you into the week ahead!

Rewire From Scarcity To Abundance - Developing Your Growth Mindset

This simple shift doesn't require perfection, just consistency. Over time, it creates a positive snowball effect, where expressing thanks invites even more reasons to feel thankful. When was the last time you thanked someone for a job well done or, for making your day. Begin to look for these opportunities as you go through your day. It's the ultimate inner strength tool: no external changes needed, just a choice to see the good that's already here and ready to be acknowledged.

It’s a mindset shift that has massive hidden power associated with it.

After seeing Zig Ziglar speak live in 1998, I became a huge fan of his. He was an absolutely fantastic person. I read his books and began implementing what I learned from him into my own life. I was awestruck when I first figured out just how powerful an Attitude of Gratitude can be.

Here’s another little tip to incorporate as you begin looking for the things you are grateful for: Do you know what persons favorite word is? 🤔

It’s… their name. 🌞 Commit to learning names and remembering them. Sometimes I jot down a quick note in my phone of the name of a new aquaintance and a memory-jogger tidbit that helps me associate the name to the face. When you find an opportunity in the future to express your sincere gratitude to that person, be sure to call them by their name as well. You’re making the world a better place to live in, one little step at a time!

Sidenote: It is extremely important that you are honest and genuine when expressing gratitude. Honesty truly is always the best policy.

🏆Why This Can Be Your Superpower

Gratitude isn't passive. It's an active superpower that amplifies everything positive in your life and the lives around you. When you regularly express thanks for what you have (big or small), you train your mind to spot opportunities, build resilience through optimism, and attract more good things naturally.

The More You Give, The More You Receive

Zig Ziglar nailed it: the more you give gratitude, the more you receive. This practice boosts your emotional health by fostering peace, reducing stress, and increasing overall happiness. It strengthens relationships (people love feeling appreciated!), fuels motivation for goals, and creates unbreakable forward momentum.

Start small: name three things you're thankful for each morning, or send one genuine thank-you message a day. Watch how this quiet power compounds, turning good days into great ones and challenging ones into growth moments. You've got this superpower inside you, activate it daily!

I volunteer wtih community organizations that are near and dear to my heart. It’s easy to find people I can genuinely express my gratitude. Volunteering can be very rewarding. And, you can find excellent friends in the process!

🔬The Science Behind It

Zig Ziglar's insight is backed by decades of rigorous research: gratitude truly is one of the healthiest human emotions, with benefits that compound over time. Pioneering studies by psychologist Robert Emmons (often called the "father of gratitude research") and Michael McCullough showed that people who kept weekly gratitude journals for 10 weeks reported higher optimism, more positive emotions, better life satisfaction, and even improved physical health. Like exercising more and visiting the doctor less, compared to those focusing on hassles or neutral events. A meta-analysis of over 70 studies involving 26,000+ people found strong links between higher gratitude and lower depression symptoms, plus enhanced overall mental well-being.

The Poitivity Snowball Effect

On the brain level, gratitude literally rewires us for more positivity. Research from UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center (including fMRI scans) revealed that writing gratitude letters activates the medial prefrontal cortex, the area tied to learning, decision-making, and social bonding, creating lasting sensitivity to grateful feelings. This leads to a "positive snowball effect": benefits start small but grow stronger over weeks and months, reducing rumination on negatives, lowering stress hormones like cortisol, and boosting resilience. Long-term studies (like the Nurses' Health Study) even link higher gratitude to better heart health markers, improved sleep, reduced inflammation, and potentially longer life, proving the more you practice, the more abundance you experience, just as Ziglar described.

Physically and emotionally, the evidence is clear: consistent gratitude practice (even 15 minutes a day, a few times a week) enhances immune function, lowers blood pressure, promotes healthier habits, and fosters prosocial behavior. It's one of the simplest, most cost-effective ways to build inner strength and forward momentum, science confirms this multiplier is real and accessible to everyone. Ready to let it work its magic in your life?

🧬Stories That Bring It to Life

  • Tony Robbins starts every morning with a 10-minute "priming" ritual that includes deeply feeling gratitude for three specific moments in his life. This habit eliminates fear and anger (since you can't feel those and be grateful at the same time), fueling his energy, resilience, and massive success as a personal development legend.

  • Jim Rohn, the iconic mentor to Tony Robbins and countless other leaders, taught that "learning the art of expressing gratitude will force you to focus on the positive." He emphasized starting with thanks for what you already have, which opens doors to miracles, ideas, and greater blessings, a core principle in his lifelong philosophy of personal growth.

    Focusing On The Positive

  • Richard Branson (Virgin Group founder) frequently expresses gratitude for his team, adventures, and lessons from failures, which he says keeps him innovative and resilient. His public shout-outs and positive focus have built a culture of abundance that compounds success across his empire.

  • Seth Godin, the legendary marketer, author, and daily blogger, views gratitude as a profound daily choice that transforms everything. He teaches that shifting from a "have to" mindset (entitlement) to a "get to" posture (gratitude) makes us happier, more effective, and opens doors to possibility, creating a positive cycle where gratitude generates more reasons to be grateful. In his words: "Gratitude works. Gratitude scales. Gratitude creates a positive cycle of more gratitude."

Hmmmm…. I wonder if Seth is a student of ‘Ol Zig? 🤔😉

Thiis perspective has fueled Seth Godin’s 25+ years of consistent creative output and inspired millions to embrace abundance over scarcity.

🏃‍♂️How to Start Today

Starting a gratitude practice is super simple to implement. There are no fancy tools or hours of your day required. Zig Ziglar's wisdom reminds us that this "healthiest of all human emotions" grows through small, consistent actions, creating that beautiful multiplier effect where the more you express thanks, the more you notice to be thankful for.

Start Today!

Begin with one easy step: each morning (or evening, whatever fits your rhythm), take just 2-3 minutes to name three specific things you're grateful for. Make them personal and vivid, think "the warmth of my coffee cup in my hands on this chilly December morning," or "the supportive text from a friend that made me smile." Speak them out loud, write them in a quick note on your phone, or even text them to someone you love. The key is specificity: focusing on details trains your brain to spot more abundance naturally.

When you see someone working hard, making a positive impact, or, just really trying, shout them out. Not in private. In front of a group of their peers. “Praise in Public / Admonish in Private” is a core leadership principle. Be a leader.
